GLENDUCKIE

About the project -

Extension and alterations to existing dwellinghouse, Glenduckie, Fife.

Our clients’ existing home exists in a unique setting. Set within an old stone quarry, there is a distinct difference in feel between the exposed rock face to the rear of the property and the open aspect to the front.

The design intention with the proposed new extension was to respect the form and setting of the existing house, whilst creating a new extension that provides for modern living and respects the unique setting.

Steel frame agricultural and quarry type buildings are the reference points for the proposed aesthetic of the extension, with profiled sheet cladding and exposed steel work combining to form the external envelope of the additional accommodation. Large areas of glazing aim to provide generous levels of daylighting within and allow the outside setting of the quarry face to be appreciated from inside the new living spaces.

Planning for the extension was approved in January 2025.
