The traditional stone cottage buildings, forming the existing house, have previously been lovingly restored by our client and they wished to explore the potential for creating new accommodation within the lower roof section of the property.

Through careful consideration of existing roof heights and utilising a full width dormer window form, additional master bedroom accommodation has been formed within the existing roof ridge height.

The proposed works include for a full strip out of this section of the building, allowing historic envelope defects to be addressed and new insulation to be incorporated within the external wall and ground floor elements. The installation of a new air source heat pump for heating the property is also planned, significantly upgrading the overall energy performance of the existing dwelling.

Planning permission for the proposals was approved in October 2023.
